Surrender to the Waiting Worlds That Lap Against our Side

"Salmon, battling their way upstream in the river of their birth to their spawning grounds and leaping high against rushing waterfalls, resist the flow of tide and time, and hence are special creatures. Mysterious, valiant, and resolute, they are fitting messengers between worlds, and by extension they are the embodiment of knowledge. They swim in the rivers and wells of the otherworld, feeding on the hazel nuts that fall from the 'trees of knowledge,' and sometimes passing into the human world to deliver prophecies of their own on 'the manner of the world to come.'"
